DJ VJ [DaMusicManne] here again puttin in another evil ass tape. Heres Criminal Mafias Vol. 2 from early 96. This lesser known group first put itself together around 93, though they did not make any real moves until mid 95 when Memphis was just getting national attention. Mainly influenced by key underground acts like Triple Six Mafia and the BBB Click, the main style they carried was usually dark and tripped out. The group consisted of a few young but very talented South Memphis upcomers. -Lamarcuzz (the producer), Lil Russell, Lil Marlon, & Lil Fred and Mac Keith. All of which had mic skills to test. This tape in particular was bumpin on both sides all the way through. Though it is labeled as DJ Paul & Criminal Mafia.. it should be noted that DJ Paul was not in any way affiliated with the group. He did, however, help get access to getting tapes pressed for new Memphis clicks. He was also a major influence to the groups producer Marco Dane (Lamarcuzz) as many tracks were heavily sampled off DJ Paul productions. Criminal Mafia was rooted on the undergound sounds of South Memphis and thats without doubt. They went steady for next couple years. One of their most notable tapes "The Crucifixion" still remains a classic underground CM release.
